Fear and anxiety

E-mail Print PDF Site Map

Feeling anxious or fearful is a common reaction to distressing situations. It’s normal to be scared of the unknown and to be anxious about test results or whether treatment is working. Anxiety might also have a physical cause such as pain or certain drugs.

Signs of anxiety:

  • constantly feeling agitated or angry
  • sleeping difficulties
  • having difficulty concentrating or making decisions
  • avoiding distressing issues and situations
  • feeling a constant need for reassurance.
Talking to others and sharing fears and concerns can be helpful. Treatment is available if anxiety becomes overwhelming and impacts on everyday life.
