Some women find it reassuring to have regular follow-up tests. Others feel anxious around the time of their appointments. Both reactions are normal. Women often feel anxious or upset around the time of follow-up. Having a physical examination and other tests done and waiting for the results can worrying and women often feel anxious or upset. Women who are anxious or upset about follow-up visits should talk to a member of their treatment team.
Some women decide that they don’t wish to have a regular scheduled follow-up program. Women who make that decision can still arrange to contact their gynaecological oncologist or another member of the treatment team if they have symptoms or concerns that they need to discuss.
Regardless of whether a woman is having regular follow-up tests, it’s important that she mentions any changes in symptoms or general health to her doctor.
