Nausea and vomiting
Nausea (‘feeling sick’) and vomiting are common side effects of chemotherapy. Some women are nervous or worried before their next cycle of treatment and this can make them feel sick or vomit. This is called anticipatory vomiting.
What can help with nausea and vomiting?
Nausea and vomiting can usually be controlled using drugs called anti-emetics. Anti-emetics are usually given at the same time as chemotherapy. Effective treatments are available for anticipatory vomiting, such as relaxation training. It can also be helpful to eat smaller meals more often rather than larger meals while having chemotherapy.
