Side effects of radiotherapy

Receiving radiotherapy is painless. However, women may experience some side effects at the time of radiotherapy treatment. Side effects of radiotherapy for ovarian cancer are usually only temporary and include:
  • feeling tired
  • diarrhoea
  • vomiting
  • nausea.
Other side effects, depending on the strength of the radiotherapy dose and how long treatment lasts include:
  • chronic diarrhoea
  • changes to liver function
  • inflammation of the lung and bladder
  • bowel obstruction.
