Cancer Australia hosted its annual Sydney Pink Ribbon Breakfast on Monday 24 October 2011, Pink Ribbon Day, to an audience of more than 550 guests.
The theme for the 2011 Sydney Pink Ribbon Breakfast focused on exploring familial risk for breast cancer – what it is, who it affects, the potential impact of a diagnosis of an inherited gene fault, and different approaches to prevention.
Tony Jones, Journalist and Presenter of ABC's Q&A and Lateline, took the role of Master of Ceremonies.
Speakers included:
- The Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, Minister for Human Services and Minister for Social Inclusion, representing the Minister for Health and Ageing
- Dr Helen Zorbas, CEO Cancer Australia
- Julie White, Global Head, Macquarie Group Foundation
- Associate Professor Judy Kirk, Director of the Familial Cancer Service at Westmead
- Krystal Barter, Founder, Pink Hope
Singer and songwriter Danielle Spencer entertained the audience with two songs from her upcoming album, Calling all Magicians.
